To explore Ranthambore in depth, it is recommended to plan more than one safari, as each zone offers a different experience and wildlife sightings vary with every visit.Jeep safaris are limited in number, so more than 90% of guests explore Ranthambore through canter safaris. A canter is a 20-seater open bus, ideal for shared wildlife experiences, while a jeep is a 6-seater 4×4 vehicle that provides a more private and flexible safari experience.

If you are the one who is planning a jeep safari for Ranthamabore you must need to know following points

There are 03 different quota in jeep safari means you get 03 chances to secure your jeep safari , 1st Quota opens up 90 days in advance to travel date which is cheapest option to book your jeep safari it shall cost you only Rs. 1500 per seat for Indian National ,in this quota a travel agent may charge a service charge of Rs 200 to 400 per seat ( depending upon number of seats to be booked )
Second quota is Tatkaal Jeep where per seat shall cost you Rs. 3600 per seat for Indian National if it is online available and you directly book it. You may try with a travel agent for sharing Tatkaal Safai which is not a official sharing but agents certain time manage to book two families in one jeep. In case in this quota if dates are yet to open up a good travel agent may ask for Rs.2000 to 6000 as commission to book really good zones ( zone 3 or Zone )
3rd Quota opens up 3 days prior to travel date which is not certain as in this quota seats get available against cancellation of seats by guest so if there is no cancellation then in this quota no seat will open up but as at Ranthambore lot of Foreign National travel and they travel well in advance so mostly times seats get available in this quota, In this quota seat cost may change.
Remember a canter in zone 1 to 5 or more precisely in zone 3 or 4 is always better than jeep in 6 to 10 zones as probability of tiger spotting is more in zone 3 and zone 4 and most beautiful part of Ranthamabore Forest which covers Rajbagh Lake , Padam taloa is also in these zones (zone 3 and 4), Moreover Legendry tigress like Machli ruled these zones only which was also featured in National Geographic so choose your safari zone cautiously not just safari vehicle 😊
In canter as seat numbers are not allotted so there is no guarantee you will get window seat or aisle seat so a boarding where canter starts gives you best opportunity to get your best seats.Canter have no roof so in summers you may need screen to protect against sunlight esp in afternoons.
Like in Jeep in canter also there are Two different Quota for seat booking ,First quota is advance quota which opens up well in advance while second quota is called Current Quota which opens up one day prior to safari date or more precisely in current quota booking opens up for same day Afternoon and next day morning.Mostly time travellers find difficult to book in this quota as it need high speed and precision to secure a good zone

Important Points need to understand about jeep and canter Safari at Ranthambore National Park

There are 10 different safari zones at Ranthambore National Park which have been named as zone 1 , zone 2 , zone 3, zone 4, zone 5, zone 6 , zone 7 , zone 8 , zone 9 amd zone 10.
Zone 1 to 5 are located at one part while zone 6 to 10 are located on different side of national park.
Zone 1 to 5 are zones which have been protected since starting of Ranthambore National Park while zone 6 to 10 were formed later on
On wednesday zone 1 to 5 remain closed while 6 to 10 remain open so if you are planning safari on wednesday you may have low chance of tiger spotting as safari will be booked in 6 to zones
On Tuesday zone 6 to 10 remain closed only zone 1 to 5 remain open means on Tuesday there may be higher rush of tourist
In zone 7 and zone 8 only jeep are allowed , canters are not allowed for safaris
In advance Jeep Safari 30 seats(5 jeep) can be booked (starts 3 months in advance to travel date)
In Tatkaal jeep safari 02 jeeps can be booked in any particular zone so total more than 10 jeeps in Tatkaal Quota opens up for booking for any particular slot(Morning /Afternoon)
Tatkaal Jeep safari opens only for zone 1 to 6 zones
On wednesday only zone 6 opens up in Tatkaal Jeep Safari Quota
In Advance canter safari 80 seats opens up for booking (starts 3 months in advance to travel date )
In current canter safari 40 seats can be booked (1 day prior) in any particular zone
There are Two timings of safari Morning and afternoon
Morning safari starts at Sunrise time (in summers around 5:30 in winters around 6: 30 am ) and last for 3 hours
Afternoon safari starts around 1:30 pm in winters and 3 pm in summers and again last for 3 hours
There is no age limit by forest department to visit national park that means infants to senior citizens all are allowed to enjoy beauty of forest
Safari charges for Foreign National are more compared to indian Nationals, OCI passport holders and SAARC counties nationals are are considered as indian national only
Safari ticket charges are same for children (age above 5 years ) or adult, children of age below 5 years are complimentary without any official allotment of seat and their names in safari permits
There is zone change option at Ranthambore its charges vary on existing zone and required zone
Guest can opt for luxury jeep or a naturalist as guide by opting choice jeep and choice guide option

Ranthambore National Park Safari Timing

Ranthambore Safari timing are sync with sun rise and sunset timings. The park opens around half an hour after the sunrise and closes around half an hour before the sunset. The entry and exit timing of the Ranthambore National Park changes based on summer and winter seasons. Below are the official timings of safari at Ranthambore National Park.

Ranthambore National Park Safari Booking is available in two slots daily — one in the morning and the other in the afternoon. The Ranthambore National Park Safari timing changes according to the season:

Timely arrival is crucial as gates close strictly once the safari starts. It’s recommended to reach the entry gate at least 30 minutes prior to your chosen time slot.

Things to Keep in Mind During Ranthambore Safari Booking

Full amount for safari booking will be in advance.
ID proof is must for each and every visitor.
No refund or cancellation on confirmed bookings.
Booking is non-transferable and cannot be exchanged with anyone.
You must carry the same ID card that you have submitted during the online booking and copy of booking confirmation while entering the park.
Passport details are mandatory for foreigner tourists for making reservations.
Safari permit is issued on a first come, first serve basis (subject to availability).
Park may be closed without any prior notice to visitors.
Do not feed animals, step out of the vehicle, or make loud noises during Safari.
Due to limited seats, always opt for Online Ranthambore Safari Booking at least 90 days in advance, especially for premium zones. Ranthambore has 10 safari zones. Zones 1–5 are considered the best for tiger sightings.
Wear earth-toned clothes and avoid bright colours that may disturb wildlife.
In case of any upward revision of fees after the booking, visitors will be liable to pay the difference at the time of entry into the park.
The visitors are required to report at the boarding place 15 min prior to the scheduled departure of the safari.
Weekends and holidays are more occupied due to a lot of tourist visits at Ranthambore national park, it is always advisable to book safari in advance.
